Questions about the Zika Virus

I was in a training session this week and we brushed across the Zika virus. I find it fascinating that we've known of Zika for over 75 years and all of a sudden it causes microcephaly? A group of doctors in Argentina came out and claimed the use of a mosquito-combating larvicide Pyriproxyfen that was added to the water in the area was the cause of microcephaly. Some have claimed that the introduction of vaccines in pregnant women in Brazil may be the cause. Bottom line, we don't know yet. Then we add the World Health Organization. The WHO stepped in and added Zika a major crisis. The last time I remember the WHO did this was when the H1N1 virus was causing panic. They raised it from a level 5 to level 6 epidemic. That contractually required governments around the globe to purchase massive amounts vaccines from manufacturers that went unused. It was discovered the WHO scientists received bribes to raise the threat level. Finally from the training this week, we talked about how the Zika virus is an envelope virus. The envelope cloaks the virus from being detected from the human body thus hiding it from the body's immune system of search and destroy. The use of St. John's Wort uncloaks the virus and allows the body to find the virus and destroy it. Also, the use of calcium lactate, vitamins C and F are considered the triad of immunity. Boosts the immune system. We'll leave a deep dive on that to a later post.
